Chapter 7.0: System Integration - CCTV Technology Fundamentals
Posted by Arowosegbe Olawale in General
The complexity and sheer number of CCTV system components, software applications, inputs, outputs, transmission infrastructure, processing and storage devices, and custom settings allow for a vast array of possible configurations to meet the needs of an organization. When introducing new elements to achieve new capabilities or improve performance, integrating CCTV components requires careful planning.
System integration benefits organizations by eliminating siloed systems and their associated operation and maintenance costs. Integration will also enhance data communications between systems that are complementary, as well as efficiency. To ensure that operators comprehend all features and functions of non-interoperable systems, the training requirements alone would be overwhelming.
Alternately, greater uniformity and interoperability among devices and communications architecture improves a company's capacity to maintain a CCTV system. Organizations that prioritize the implementation of integrated solutions will likely experience fewer instances of compatibility issues and system breakdowns.
